um, we all know you're a virologist and all based on your posting history, but Polio is a retro / RNA virus and it was eradicated in the US by vaccine. It's existence only remains where it's not eliminated by vaccine, yet. Like in the mountains of some god awful poor country where they don't know better.
The Flu is part of life because it jumps from the animal world to humans... birds, pigs, etc. It is nature. We have to live with it and we have a decent infrastructure in place to deal with it every year. It gets bad from time to time. It cannot be eliminated... although like I said, they have been working a long time on "universal" flu shots that cover a broader spectrum of mRNA. That could become reality.
COVID is a genetically modified retro virus to specifically infect humans efficiently... it did not occur in nature. Science created it like some frankenstein monster and we are living a global experiment dealing with it. That's the difference that you are leaving out... conveniently. You want to bury your head in the sand and pretend it isn't there... for reasons like you state here - that don't pass even basic logic. It kills less than 1% today, but where will it be if we do nothing? It is going to want to survive and replicate. It wants to become more virulent because that is what it was created to do. Gain of function is the goal.
I've never advocated for lockdowns or extreme measures... but, I do not believe we can ignore it. Science got us into this mess and my hope is science can get us out. Yet, you don't have an answer except "it is what it is", which I do not agree with. Your world is lockdowns or nothing... like politics of today... all or nothing. It doesn't need to be that. But it sure makes for good social media posts making fun of democrats, amirite?!

The vaccine has proven that you can only slow the spread of the virus. It will mutate before you can eradicate it. All that is happening with vaccines and masks is delaying the inevitable, that it will have to run it's course. People will die from it. It will not be people "burying their head in the sand" responsible..they are actually facing reality while those who aren't think the current course of vaccines, masks and lockdowns will work in a supposedly free society. It's been proven they won't. The only way lockdowns and masks and vaccines work is with draconian government implementation. You will have a civil war before that would be accepted in the US. People accepting the reality of the situation are not responsible.it's pretty clear that the chinese lab was responsible for creating it and letting it getting out, and the Chinese government coverup was responsible for allowing it to spread.
It is not Trump supporters, anti-vaxxers, or anti-mask screamers who are the blame. The entire world should be freezing Chinese assets because of this.

As a chinese american, I wholeheartedly agree.
The chinese communist party was able to prevent the spread of covid to the rest of china and contain it in Wuhan. But they knowingly allowed it to spread to the rest of the world. That is indisputable evidence they wanted to rest of the world to get COVID. Forget about whether it was a lab leak or not. They let intentionally let it spread world wide.
Trump was the only politician with the balls to call out china. I don't recall any politician (including Republicans) calling out china before Trump did in 2016. I do recall Biden praising china (since they paid Hunter millions).

The virus was obviously created in their lab, and when it started spreading in their own country, they covered it up, giving other nations no warning of what was coming. The entire blame for the global pandemic should be on them.

Acknowledge? It's been a known fact for a long time... even reported by the evil MSM.
First of all, agreed that China is responsible... but, the rest of your post is a mess. If China had our vaccines, instead of cheap knockoff versions (like everything else they make), their lockdowns would have worked even better than it did... instead now it's coming back there in pockets.

As much as you can talk tough about China, it would be a mistake to pick an open fight with them... you worry about a civil war that won't happen here... but picking a fight with China is no small matter. The CCP doesn't %$#!@# around.

Naturally the TDSers gotta blame Trump for the virus that leaked out of the Chinese Government’s Wuhan Lab and for its devastating world wide toll. (That’s why it is called TDS)
I guess the greatest challenge for the next administration (this one is, shall we say, a bit muddled) is to get justice and reparations from China for the damage humanity has endured. At the very least their 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics (Communist countries love the glitz and glamor and cover of Olympics pageantry and prestige) is a no go from the get go for the rest of the world.
