I have put in an offer on a house in Bay Shore. The house is in the West Islip school district. However, the neighborhood isn't that pretty as it looks like a much older neighborhood. Also, we are African American and notice the school does not have many. Has there been issues with children of color in the West Islip school system being discriminated against?
Kids are kids. Doesn’t matter what you are, they will find a way to get under your skin.
That said, the price of the property I guess is fine, but I have found the annual property taxes to be something to take into consideration when looking in Long Island.
West Islip has always been known as White Islip. West Islip Schools are better than Bayshore IMO. My husband graduated from there in 1990 and said the school was mostly white back then. That being said you should be fine. Good luck.
