The Afghans will go to Hofstra and become local legislators, prob turn republican in a few years so they can fight for a Mosque. I get confused by all the anti-immigrant blathering on here. Can't keep up with which refugees it is this week. Afghans? There are actually already large Queens (NYC and Philly) Afghan communities. I wish them well with their American Dream, which as George Carlin said, "they call it a Dream, 'cause you have to be asleep to believe it!" I welcome our new Afghani overlords. lol

Immigrants in the end almost always flock to where their "communities" (see brentwood) are and there is no large afghan community on LI hence its doubtful many will come here.
Most of the Afghan community are located in SoCal in the LA area.

Aren’t most of these immigrants highly educated? They mostly worked for the us government, were top athletes, scholars or international leadership after all.
Why wouldn’t they be able to get a good job since they will have green cards. Long Island is not a great place to start your life in the usa.

Lol this was a total myth, many of the supposed refugees were not even translators or worked with the military, especially in the beginning they were taking anyone who could get to the plane.

NYC Afghan population is actually pretty small, VAST majority are in CA and a decent amount In VA near DC. That being said the OP’s idiotic headline is ridiculous, plenty of red states are doing this as well. 1800 refugees is nothing, that many illegals will cross the border in one sector in a DAY, the refugees also are free to go anywhere they please and are unlikely to significantly impact LI in any way. More misleading trash.
