Any fool can give a test but only well prepared intelligent highly motivated kids pass. Newsweek's rankings are a complete joke to me.
I too was an AP student and I remember my teachers constantly getting annoyed at these ratings. In our High School, students had to meet a certain criteria to be allowed in AP classes. My teachers would complain that Miller Place would stick everyone in AP classes to rise in these rankings and create the image of an excellent district. The next time you see "top-rated Miller Place schools" in a real estate ad, take it with a grain of salt.

Schools had to have an average SAT score below 1300 on the reading and math sections, or an average ACT score below 29, to be included on the list.

heh does this mean Jericho ranked #20, had an average of 1300 and under? and 70% of Jericho students receive federally subsidized meals from 0% last year??
Re-Read what you quoted from the FAQ. It did not state that all the schools on the list had an average SAT score of under 1300, but the magnet or charter type schools had to be under a 1300 in order to appear on the list.
