Does anyone attend the US Navy airshow?

The airshow over Jone Beach is the Jones Beach airshow put on by the Nassau County Parks Dept. and is quickly becoming one of the premiere airshows of the Northeast. The Blue Angels alternate performance years with the USAF Thunderbirds. 2010 will see the return of the Blue Angles. During the show The Blues are based out of Republic Airport in Farmingdale as are most of the performers. They usually arrive early to midweek before the weekend.
The best way to see the show, which is Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, is to pick either of the 2 days and get to the beach as early in the day as you can. The parking lots fill up quickly and the roads clog early. The day that you don't go to the beach go to Republic Airport and visit the American Airpower Museum located on the east side of the field in one of the 3 remaining Republic Aviation hangars. From there you can see close up the take offs and landings of the planes going to and coming from the show. The activity starts around 10AM. You will also see the museums fleet of flying WWII aircraft that are participants in the show. There will also be a visiting B-17 bomber that will be available for flights. Bring your camera and make a weekend of it. You will not regret it.

As I pointed out earlier in this thread, Republic Airport is in East Farmingdale ("Farmingdale, NY 11735" mailing address).

Farmingdale is a village in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, while East Farmingdale is a hamlet in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County.
