Most white Malverne kids go to Kellenberg, St Anthonys etc because the local high school is not safe, and kids are using grandmas address in Malverne to get Hempstead and Roosevelt kids into the school.
How come Malverne has pretty good metrics academically if the school is not safe?
Most white Malverne residents dont send their kids to Malverne High School.because the school isnt white enough. 18 percent white isnt a high number. People want to go where they feel comfortable and feel part of the culture environment.
Kellenberg and St. Anthonys are very good Catholic schools and Malverne has a large Catholic population, so they tend to utilize those school more

That's not even close to what I said and you know that. Stop it...
I'm referring to the safety of the school, given what that poster said.
Malverne has long had some issues in terms of demographics and attendance going back decades. This is illustrated in this documentary from 1963(starts around 11 minutes in to about 20 minutes in): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMzj...JAE0M&index=78
It is the perceived safety of whites having to attend a predominantly black school. Malverne is all white. Lakeview which also feeds Malverne schools is all black.
People in Malverne have more money and will tend to send their kids to private school. Malverne has a Catholic elementary school which is full, and then they go onto Catholic High Schools
People will go where they feel most comfortable. Being vastly outnumbered usually doesnt make you feel comfortable.

Malverne was still a hot topic a decade after desgregation in the 1960s. There were issues in the district and community when I was a junior high student (different school district) in the 1970s.
I grew up in Malverne from 1978 until 2003. There is district 12 and district 13.
District 12 is Malverne HS and district 13 is Valley Stream schools which were good back 30 years ago not sure how it is now. Not too Familiar with Malverne schools as I was in district 13 but many kids that go to Malverne HS. come from Lakeview. I went to Valley Stream North and when I was going there is was mostly white Irish/Italians/Jews &a small % of Asians.

Imagine being a black or non white student at many schools then.
Also, if the kids from Malverne actually went there, wouldn’t the school enrollment be more balanced? I wouldn’t be surprised if some black and Hispanic kids in the district go with private schools as well.
On a side note, Lakeview at about 73% black has the highest percentage of any city, village or CDP in NY State and has a median household income a little over $150,000.
