She is awful. Gave the legislature a raise, and all she got out of it was the middle finger.

See? No good deed goes unpunished.

I would have included the raise with part of budget deal; don't do what I want, then you get oogatz!

This legislature has rolled governor twice and it's only four months into her term. They're about to do it again with the budget.

Only saving grace is watching uber progressive liberal democrats get their drawers in a bunch over all the green and other stuff they wanted in budget that isn't happening.

True, but it's not just her behind this, it's part of the progressive platform and they're pushing it anyplace they have control. That goes for Europe as well. The UK Parliament is at this very moment supporting overriding local zoning in some suburban/rural areas to build new housing for illegal migrants. They're all reading from the same playbook. It's just a matter of whether they can be stopped before they have enough power to implement their plans.

Democrats can't truly pin this on whites in suburbs either since large numbers of Asians and others have moved to Westchester and Long Island in past decade (and keep coming) for same reasons whites once did; to get away from effing nonsense in NYC. They *DON'T* want that same sh*t brought to their doorsteps "in the country" if you will.

Limousine liberals are a funny lot, they want all sorts of inclusion and equality up to a point; when it starts to affect what they hold near and dear you hear a different story.
Asians are lumped in with whites for purposes like this, as well as affirmative action, etc. where they are actually discriminated AGAINST. Progressives score groups based on who has the most alleged grievances, and Asians are too successful to merit their attention.

As to your last point, correct, but you'd think after awhile they'd learn that these sorts of policies eventually come around to bite them in the hindquarters. I guess if you truly have the means, for now, it won't affect you - if they throw up a bunch of low income housing around a "nice" LIRR station, and property values sink, the rich liberals nearby can easily pick up and move (if they don't tie it up in court forever since they can afford fancy lawyers). As usual, it's the working and middle class that get the shaft. But if the communist revolution comes, the bourgeoisie are among the first in the gallows.

The agreement on the budget was released today. And the housing plan wasn’t in it as was predicted, she dropped it officially….for now at least.

Also further minor changes to bail reform were agreed upon to give judges more discretion.

What a bunch of nonsense. You know Texas has virtually no zoning regulations right? Would you really consider that state to be a progressive utopia?

Florida which is becoming redder by the day just easily passed a huge multifamily housing bill (because housing costs are skyrocketing there too) with a super majority GOP legislature that limits local zoning's ability to block multifamily housing complexes as well, to surprisingly little fanfare. The big difference however is there aren't any forced % goals like Hocul's idea. But you are correct this is hardly just a blue state thing.

Interesting. Never thought of Florida as a place with strict zoning laws. I'm familiar with Brevard and Indian River areas. You can drive one mile and see factories, trailer parks, decaying 1960 "Florida homes" and beautiful gated communities within two minutes. In some cases, an auto recycling plant on the other side of the 8' wall of the exclusive gated community.

Nope counties and cities have residential and commercial zoning control like they do here.

Florida has county based schools. Here if you build 800 units in syosset SD and they get a 30yr tax abatement the two dents have to cover the costs. In FL they most likely won’t give a tax abatement if they do it’s county wide that eats it not just 1 area.
