Florida has county based schools. Here if you build 800 units in syosset SD and they get a 30yr tax abatement the two dents have to cover the costs. In FL they most likely won’t give a tax abatement if they do it’s county wide that eats it not just 1 area.
Im well aware, I attended FL county based schools for 6 years lol. And that is a good point about the tax abatements vs the countywide tax. My BIL actually works in the planning commission for a major FL county he's the one that told me they lost a lot of local zoning control as a result of SB 102 passing.

People think woke "affordable" or "low income" housing orders from top down only happen in liberal, progressive, socialist democrat states.
New York has seen several bold proposals shot down at first, only to rise again as popular measures. In 2007, Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s proposal to provide driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants to make streets and home security safer was defeated, only to be accepted in 2019 here and in several other states. In 2009, Gov. David Paterson’s attempt to pass same-sex marriage as a civil right failed, but then was approved under Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo three years later.
“All significant movements throughout our history have taken time,” Hochul said. “This is a movement that is long overdue to recognize that people have a right to live in all communities. So that is going to be my commitment throughout my entire duration as governor.”
Of course not. The left never ever gives up. Although I think this will be a much tougher fight to win then giving illegals licenses was as they used in the article as an example. My guess is within the next few years they will pass some sort of housing package that dosent completely override local zoning, then eventually down the pike they will if they get enough support. What's funny is even if they do get their way it won't make any difference on housing costs whatsoever, it's a joke.
