Interesting read in the top story in Newsday today. Notice how the university is quick to blame everyone but themselves. For example, they claim that Southampton has no Director of Strategic Initiatives. Yes that's true, and they haven't hired a replacement in THREE YEARS! Some overpaid paper pushers in Human Resources and in the Presidents office has been asleep a the wheel because it does not take THREE years to hire an employee to run the campus. Besides they never heard of using the CURRENT directors of strategic initiative at the Stony Brook Location to do the work and fill in where the help is desperately needed. They can also do interim appointments. Talk about sheer incompetence and gross mismanagement.

This is all happening under McInniss watch and is the direct result of a bunch of people in administration milking the work from home scam to this day and not being present on campus to be held accountable and supervised for actually doing the work that is required. This non sense of "working from home" 3 years into covid is an outright fraud. You have people making hundreds of thousands a year and not doing the work they are being paid to do. They are "pretending" to work and as a result the students and employees suffer.

How many emails and phone calls has she ignored regarding this? This has been brewing for years and SBU is only giving lame excuses because multiple politicians are involved and its getting major media attention.

You want some entertainment go look at the SBU council recordings online on youtube and every month or so she sits there and gives this rosy dreamy self loving assessment to the board members of how the University is doing. Clearly some "events" under her watch are being left out of the meetings!

Your title should include Southampton. I opened it thinking you meant main campus.

I have a firewall -- please copy and paste article.

Just an update

Maurie was a no show at the latest sbu council meeting. She played hooky and sent another employee in her office to explain to the council the Southampton scandal and other negative press the university has received.

SBU needs a leader that doesn't run and hide from problems and will be held accountable for their failures.

Members of the community should be able to reach her yet if you contact her office the messages are ignored .

Too many scandals and lack of transparency in this administration!
