Helpful indeed. Thank you, again.

I'm curious if there are any specific pros and cons comparing GC with EW in the two things you talked about, commute and schools.
Just based on greatschools rating, EW has better elementary while GC has better middle/high schools. I'd like to have more specifics.

Also, any comments on taxes comparing the two, or info within EW?

Thanks.
I can't offer much in the way of current stats on either school district, other than to say that EW has a much, much smaller district as compared to GC. That can be a benefit and a burden. Let's put it this way, both schools produce records of excellence and you can't make a mistake either way. I would suggest a convo with the Administration office to get current specifics - I know EW is always happy to answer anything and I have heard that is the same for GC.

Re: the commute. The Oyster Bay Line (EW) is the forgotten child of the RR. I commuted for almost 30 years and I was ok with it, but, I don't think the Hempstead Line (GC) is much better. Now I left LI 10 years ago so maybe things are a little better on both those lines now as opposed to then. Both are close enough to the Mineola station that many will go that route, but parking is tough if you are not there early.

Tax wise neither are cheap and you are adding village taxes to each. You can check the taxes out yourself for comparable homes on. https://lrv.nassaucountyny.gov You type in the address of a home you like, and the info will come up, on the display, there is a tax tab and then if you click that there will be a general tax and a school tax tab individually. Bear in mind the village taxes may not be listed.

Thanks!

I live in GC and love it. The commute is much better (as described already) in my opinion. Schools are great. Sport programs are great. Taxes are high, like everywhere on LI. Just make sure in GC that you're looking at least 2 blocks North of the Hempstead border. Ask me anything else about GC.

I don't know anything about the other 2 villages, but I'm sure they're nice areas also.
