New to Westbury Village
Hi, I'm highly considering moving to an apartment on Post Ave above the Aquaquality Pool and Spa store. It's cheap and near the LIRR which is great (even though I wish the LIRR had more late night trains). I've only been to Westbury village a handful of times and while it's no Huntington Village, it still seems like a nice place to live. The village square seems out of place, but it's a nice touch. I've never been there at night however. Is there a nightlife (bars) worth checking out in the village? Anything else a new resident of Westbury Village should know?

I would NOT go there, unless groups of men (usually illegals) loitering and getting drunk dont bother you. I used to live right by where you were moving to...it was horrible. Non stop blasting music, fights, drunk men hanging around outside my door. It was NOT fun.
There's a bodega right next to that place, and one a few stores down past Alfredo's, and then another by the tracks. That cannot be good!

I hear what you're saying John. I've seen a little bit of this the few times I've been there so I'm going to have to weigh the pro and cons. I wouldn't be roaming the streets at night anyway. Hopefully the "revitalization" of Westbury Village continues. By the way, does anyone know the plan for the old Westbury theatre? Seems like it's been abandoned forever.

Salisbury is supposed to be the nice area? What makes it so much nicer?
How is most of Westbury crap? Where do you live that qualifies you make such a statement (Not that it would justify your comment)?

The theater is under plans to possibly be turned into condos. I believe the village finally has the rights to move forward on that property.
Also the village is quite large and encompasses beautiful areas east/west of Post Ave.

Part of the problem with the Theater is it was given historical landmark status at some point. And that status has to be revoked for it to be torn down. But the whole point of making something an historical landmark is so that it could not be torn down.So no one could just buy it and do with it as they pleased. But I think you are right that they are moving ahead and may have gotten past this legal hurdle.
