These are few representative listings from my old neighborhood in Ohio. It had the highest rated large school district in the state.

Property taxes on all but the biggest houses were under $4000 per year.

Don't get me wrong, we're excited to be here and see a lot to love in Long Island. But the RE sticker shock has knocked us on our butts!

Houses may be cheaper, but I would be miserable not being within the NYC area.

I plan on moving to the Las Vegas suburbs when I retire in 30 years, but that's different. By then I'll want to be somewhere more relaxing, but for now I don't want to leave Long Island. It's home to me.

Maybe you ought to rethink moving here. After all you had it really good in Ohio - why would you want to give that up to come and live here?

I sure hope you were well compensated financially to make the move. The homes in that are of Ohio looked nice. How was the local economy?

That's the trouble. There aren't a lot of large companies in the area and it seems as though the ones there are beginning to relocate. My husband got a good offer here and I always told him New York is one of the few places that would make it worth it to move away from all of my family.
