I have taken a job in Nassau County that requires that I live in the county and I'm having a terrible time finding a suitable apartment in a safe area for less than a small fortune. Can anyone suggest any apartment communities (other than the Avalon Communities) that I might check out? My office will be in Mineola, but I'm willing to commute from anywhere in the county. I appreciate any suggestions you guys might have!
I am having the same issue. The apartments are so much more expensive then the ones in suffolk for less space and crappy ammeneties if you r lucky to have any at all!
unfortunately that's the way it is. I am a rental agent so I know everything that's available in every town on long island. You don't get much for your money on long island. The good thing is if you don't have any pets you get much more choice. If you don't own something you should never get a pet because if and when you have to move...it's truly difficult finding something that will allow your pet.
I get calls daily "Hi Have a Rotweiller and a Boxer, I want to pay $1,200 and I need a fenced in yard and a washer & dryer and dishwasher".
Know what I do when I hear that? I give them the number of the mortgage broker I usually recommend (after I laugh because you have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding an apartment like that --yet I get similar calls all day long)
"Hi I have 2 Cats, 2 Dogs, 2 Birds and I don't want to spend more than $1,000"
"Hi, I have a 100 lb labrador retriever and I need a fenced in yard. I can spend $1,100"
Who is going to rent you their house with a fenced in hard for $1,100?
Anyway girls....they're out there. You can go through a realtor who will help you to find what's available in the town you want but there is a fee involved. If you want to avoid a fee it's harder but you can find rentals listed direct by landlords in the local pennysavers and online.
