My DH and I found a house we like in Bayport, but are unsure of the special education dept within the Bayport-Blue Point SD. I have a 4yr old with Asperger Syndrome Disorder and is currently receiving services through Levittown. Unfortunately, we can not afford the taxes here in Wantagh and fell in love with the Bayport area.

I want to know people's experiences with the SpecEd dept and the services their children were getting, good or bad. We want what's best for our son. Any imput would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

I have no knowledge on Bayport special ed services, but I have heard that Levittown had real good spe services. I live in Lindenhurst and from first hand experience they are good, but like in most school districts you may have to fight sometimes to get what you want.

My only advice is that before you move do alot of research such as call parent advocates, the super-intendant of the school district, spe pta to ensure you will be happy, it would be a shame to move and find that the services are not adequate for your child.

Good Luck

I am a regular education teacher in the Bayport-Blue Point School District and have had children mainstreamed into my class with Asperger Syndrome. They have a one-on-one teacher assistant, and seem to do very well. They have a lot of support...pychologist, teacher, assistant, autism specialist monthly, speech teacher, and resource room services. I believe the special education program is strong, and hope you will be happy in the district.
