Yeah, you're right. Lawrence actually extends beyond Nassau Expressway for about 2 Blocks. Those multimillion dollar homes are actually steps away from Far Rockaway.

Just west of the Lawrence LIRR is the run down part. The post office is within site of the LIRR, and if you take a few steps beyond it you'll see exactly what I'm referring to. It's really awful.

Anyone have pics of this area? Never been. Only been to Cedarhurst, which seemed quite nice.

Oh yeah, Inwood is one of the few places on LI that I'd say has taken a pronounced nosedive over the years, it's a shame. Doesn't help that it borders one of Far Rockaway's worst areas....Redfern NYCHA buildings in particular. As far as that neighborhood near the Lawrence P.O. goes, the contrast between one side of the train tracks and the other is extreme. I don't want to go overboard because it's not the absolute worst place in the world, but what the heck happened? Other parts of Inwood are still nice, specifically near the golf course...but the further south (and west) you go the sadder it gets. There are a ton of expensive new co-ops & condos going up in Arverne, maybe that rennaissance will trudge it's way east through Far Rock and eventually hit Inwood up. That's a town that needs some love.

GCGuy - Wish I had some pictures, couldn't even find any searching on Google. Maybe if I'm bored some time during the weekend I'll take a ride over there with my new camera. Cedarhurst is very nice, I like the park in the center of town. Woodsburgh is another extremely lavish but virtually unknown area...it's all money back behind that tall beach grass.
