We're looking to buy a single family detached house in Queens that needs everything. Can anyone recommend contractors who can provide estimates for the following things?
-Roofing
-Siding
-or painting/fixing exterior wood clapboards?
Also, do permits needs to be filed to put on a new roof or to side a house?

Roof and siding should not warrant a permit.

We just used Long Island Roofing and Repair out of Bellmore (longislandroofing.com) for a new roof earlier this month and had a great experience. They gave us a great estimate, the roofers were certified by GAF(the manufacturer of the roof materials) and I learned a lot about the roofing process during the estimate (their insurance coverage for their workers, etc).
