Oceanside schools blow. It's all smoke and mirrors to keep the healthy salaries.

I heard that about RVC... which is why the taxes are higher .. .the test scores you see in Newsday are also inflated. I actually heard some residents with RVC schools talking about this. It is making me wonder.

To be honest overall, take a look at most districts on LI...they all need to keep the healthy salaries of teachers. Teachers will tell you they need to afford to live here ...well so does everyone else and they are making less than LI public school teachers.

Oceanside has a better kindergarten center than RVC and depending upon elementary school you are zoned to Oceanside has some elementary schools higher rated than RVC.

RVC does have a much higher rated HS> Of course after paying and extra 15k a year in taxes for 21 years by the time junior reaches college you wont have money to pay for it.

Come 1-1-2018 in next reassessment we will see the start of 40K a year property taxes in RVC being fairly common

Not that there's anything wrong with Oside schools however I feel like people that buy in RVC look for RVC schools and people that buy in Oside look for Oside schools. Am I being paranoid?
Oceanside schools are very solid. The HS statistics are good: high AP participation rates, high graduation rates, high 4-year college attendance rates. The course guide is impressive given the size of the school. RVC schools have an excellent rep but more of a "keeping up with the Joneses" type of culture. Not as much of that in Oside.
