Your better off going on the Ronkonkoma side with the Connetquot. school district..
I have some friends still over by there and there's a house that JUST went up for sale thats on a short sale for 299!! The house was purchased for $365 two years ago! (Lake Hills area, GOOD area)

It's a steal and you can rent the downstairs! All new appliances, wood floors etc.

(I've been in the house a couple of years ago)

Send me a PM and Ill get ya the address.

Unfortunately on Long Island the schools rule, and the prevailing opinion on CI schools is really bad. Know that not matter how nice your house is, most buyers will purchase based on the district, and this will hurt your resale, equity stake, etc. Good luck in your search. Another poster referenced the Lake Hills area close by and that would be a nice alternative.

They were never able to get their schools together despite the fact that CI is not a 100% minority or ESL district. The schools were terrible when it was a mostly white area years ago.

they were always not good, I grew up in Hauppauge, and the CI schools back in the eighties had the worst reputation.

I know the schools aren't the greatest. we live in longwood shools now, which is better but still not great, we don't have kids yet.
but i am curious about the actually town of islandia over by exit 58 on the lie (old nichols). on the other side of old nichols is ronkonkoma.
is that development dumpy?

That area is actually not bad. All the homes are kept up and they have decent size properties. But I just could never buy in CI schools. Kids or not. Resale is the key!

That is definitely true! Even though the houses do look nice over there, and it is very convenient to the lie........it is unfortunately CI schools.
Why couldn't Islandia be connetquot schools......LOL it is soo close to ronkonkoma

Some of it does. Be sure you check it out. That part by Old Nichols is very nice. Good luck!
