Here are today's alarm price quotes. After reading so many negative things about each company, I am hesitant to pull the trigger on any of them. I have a lot of windows to protect (expensive) but hate the thought of motion detectors. Any options I'm missing? I do not want the thing going off accidentally.

ADT
3-year contract
$447 installed
$36 a month
1 keypad
2 motion
2 doors
1 key fob
1 siren

Brinks
3-year contract
$165 installed
$30 a month
2 keypads
1 motion
2 doors
1 window
1 siren

Slomins
5-year contract
$325 installed
$28.50 a month
2 keypads
2 motion
2 doors
1 siren
1 key fob

I am interested in this too.

I'm not too keen on the ongoing charges though :-(

ADT is sold through independent dealers. If you check around, you may find that different ones will quote you different prices.

I phoned ADT and my area is handled through an office in Melville.

I had previously had General Security, and the installers they sent out were like the guys in Dumb and Dumber. UGH.

I had a lot of special needs and ended up paying $3,830.00 2 years ago.

2 motions, 3 overhead garage doors, 1 Bilco, 5 exterior doors, 29 wireless windows, touch pad, siren, back up battery, radio relay, wireless to exterior garage, glass break sensor, smoke sensor, heat sensor.

I had key fobs years ago and they were more trouble than they were worth (to me anyway)

I have Slomin's alarm system and I am very happy with it. My parent's have ADT and they like their's too.

Slomin's is wired and ADT is battery run. The only problem my parent's have with ADT is the batteries do run out and the batteries are very expensive to replace. Slomins installs permanent wires in the wall (you would never know it was there, meaning the wires are hidden). Both are equally good. Make sure that you know which type of alarm that you want. Both have glass break detectors.

Even though I will very likely never really need an alarm (I live in a low crime area) I do love the piece of mind and security that it provides. Good luck.
