You know you're from Long Island when you go away to college for free (thank you Long Island schools, I was far ahead of my peers) and come back to live in the greatest suburb of the greatest city in the world.

You know you are from Long Island when you realize that you left 40 years ago and you still yearn for a slice of real pizza, a black and white, a Sabrett hot dog from a corner vendor, a bakery crumb bun on Sunday morning, the smell of Jones Beach, etc.

Geez, wish I could afford to come home.

Yup, and squeezing the paper cup to make the ices come to the top. My mother always made sure to take plenty of napkins from the Pizza place napkin dispenser as I made quite a mess of myself.
