You Know You're From Long Island When...

- people complain about people with leafblowers
- and other people complain about the people who complain about people with leafblowers
- and still other people complain about the people who complain about people with leafblowers AND complain about the people who complain about the people who complain about the people with leafblowers

And then they all move South

Where we don't care about leaf blowers and others complain that we post on the LI Board....

Your town is becoming full of good family people...adults who wear backwards hats, blue line shirts, fatigue pattern shorts, and cologne you can smell a mile away...and drive lifted dodge rams and have leg tattoos, a high school education, and a mouth like a sailor. And, they just purchased a $600k house. Their 5 year old kid has a buzz cut mohawk.

Not commenting on if that is good or bad either way...just what I see...and you know you're from Long Island if you see these things.

What is with those leg tattoos? I have a niece in Suffolk who has one, and it’s not well done at all.

I have several observations:
1. Cut the price of the house by half or two-thirds and you could be talking about many places around the country, proving we all have more in common than anyone would think.
2. This is just one slice of Long Island. There are many other different family scenarios.
3. This focuses largely on outward appearances, while I’m much more interested in what’s inslde. Values count.

#MeFirst attitudes.

Prime example is tax grievance. When it comes to light that others have been paying more than others because of this sham, the ones who have been taking advantage STILL want their neighbors to pay more than their fair share for 5 more years while they continue to get their break. WTH is wrong with you people? Disgusting. Makes me want to punch them in the face.

#MeFirst is also why our taxes are stupid high as it goes into people's pockets instead and the place looks run-down compared to other suburbs. Our population is high, yet we have to settle for this BS.

You can’t blame the grievers. I was one, and played Within the rules. Not my fault others didn’t. Even though im not in the county anymore. The 5 year phase in is BS. Should of been 2 years meet in the middle, fair for both sides. The no phase in on new construction is crap also. It’s even sicker that my new construction pays 15.1k w/ star and the same exact house in your town is 28-40k. (52k tax monstrosity is still on the market).
