Well I dont think what those boys did was right and they should be punished as long as the law allows & on the other hand I too said to myself about a week into this every time i picked up my paper "AGIAN" "I really dont want to read about every detail" " I really dont care what his nieghbors in ecudor thought about this" and so on.....I think we have more important issues to deal with right here on LI & nationwide.

I for one am sick and tired of these Hispanic activists and immigration advocates trying to dictate how our government should function, what laws should be enforced and what the penalties should be.

They also need to stop throwing around accusations of racism against anyone who <gasp how dare they> have a different opinion on immigration.

I have to agree with the protestors. Attacks against citizens by illegal immigrants and immigrants of questionable status are relegated to minimal coverage, and placed in weaker positions within the paper. We don't see the follow up to crimes against citizens the way we do when it is the other way around.

Why didn't Newsday make as big a deal out of Long Islander Vinessa Hoera's murder at the hands of an illegal immigrant from Guatemala?

Newsday's coverage has always had a liberal slant (although I would prefer the term liberal 'bias') which has been the norm for decades. It has only become more pronounced as more immigrants (legal and illegal) move here but do little to fully assimilate. Newsday reporters do everything they can to be PC in their reporting, at the expense of creating a balanced, non-biased report.

Crime is crime is crime. It is disgusting and despicable. It doesn't matter who commits it, legal or illegal; white, black, Asian or Hispanic. EVERYONE should be held to the same standards when it comes time to report it and to prosecute it.

Default KKK in Long Island???????

Last week, on channel 1, if I am not mistaken, there was news about the KKK being active in Long Island, and leaving hateful leaflets on people's cars.

I understand how the protesters feel...... The guys who committed this crime (as well as the other assaults they committed) deserve to go to jail for a very long time. However, the media makes it seem as though the illegals (as well as other minorities) never commit crimes against whites. Their "advocates" make them seem like innocent people who are just here for a better life and teach them little catch-phrases in English like "a person is not illegal"...... It's true that some of them are here for a better life or to help their families "back home", but there are many here who commit one crime after the next and you never hear about that in Newsday.

Default Newsday is notorious for their agenda

The government has neglected their duty to protect the borders. Somehow they have allowed this huge population shift to happen so business can have cheap labor, while the taxpayer fronts the money for social services, programs and a growing future underclass. What the government has done or failed to do has put all of us in a precarious position. From the citizens protecting their country/sovereignty/tax money to the illegals who are unwelcome cheap labor it is a bad spot for all of us. Nobody is saying the right things to motivate the population to do something. Now that they are here illegally it is well within the public's rights to make things uncomfortable for these invaders so they are inclined to leave.

These protesters should be honored for doing what their government has failed to do and what most citizens are too lazy or programed to realize. Papers like Newsday do us all a huge disservice. This media source Newsday neglects the core issues here while jamming a destructive agenda down the throat of their readers. Murder after murder is completely ignored then when something fits their agenda Newsday incessantly reports on it over and over enlarging the profile of isolated incidents when ignoring daily plagues. This is a paper that reports from a point of view that is completely uneducated.

These Newsday writers and their editor need to be reeducated as their education completely lacks any sort of sense of historical point of view. If they looked past their programing and considered history they would realize that past population invasions like the one we are experiencing is the precursor of government failure. It happened with the Roman Empire when Visigoths flooded Italy in the 4th century only to have that empire fail in the 6th century under the Visigoth emperor Justinian.

Yes these people are hardworking but when all of their anchor babies mature they will be Americanized in the ghetto way and they have unfortunately walked into a situation where they are being exploited while exploiting the taxpayers. Their children will not be willing to work menial jobs for insulting wages, they will go for the handout first and crime second. The work ethic will disappear in the 2nd generation. This is a ticking time bomb that will explode in just a few years. Thank you to those Americans that are protecting their country in lieu if government corruption/incompetence.

I do think its a bit silly to compare this case to a case where an illegal immigrant killed someone and wonder why this story got more coverage. The reason has nothing to do with any so called "liberal bias" from Newsday. It has to do with the fact that we are dealing with 7 high school kids committing the crime, and the fact this person was killed simply because of their race. If a story involved 7 illegals who were high school kids involved in the killing of a hard working white man simply because he was white than the case would likely be getting similar coverage. The dynamics of the case is why its getting so much coverage not some liberal or pro-immigrant or whatever bias some people would like to accuse Newsday of.
