What does everyone think of Northport, NY?
Good and bad
Schools? Elementary? Ocean Avenue Parent reviews? No Pre K only Kindergarten right?,
Special ed? Autism? Special classes for autism 6:1:4 or 8:1:4
Inclusion classes for learning difficulties (Dyslexia/LD)?
Things to do with kids?
Summer sailing, horse riding, Indoor swimming pool
General niceties of the town etc.
I am thinking of moving there have heard some things said about the schools being very good, but cant find any parent reviews online?
Would be interested in some feedback both good and bad?

Thanks

With the exception of maybe the LIPA stacks...(cancer risk same as Port Jeff).

I cant say a bad thing about Northport.

Great town.

Excellent choice.

You should start a new thread on Northport.

A beautiful town with old captain's houses on hillsides and a charming 1950s village.

I know a few people who live in the Village, raised their children there; others who grew up there, some who've returned to teach there. ALL have nothing but great things to say about the area & schools.

Wow, can't believe I missed a thread like this-

I prefer the mid-island.

- Not prone to flooding (generally speaking).
- Very convenient to Long Islands main 4 roadways (LIE, SSP, NSP and Sunrise)
- Stores tend to be close by since everything's less spread apart
- Tends to be least-expensive real estate on the island

I've lived in...Bellport, East Moriches, Miller Place, Hampton Bays & Manorville, So I've seen a mix of both, albiet all centered on the east end (I have visited North Babylon a lot and worked in Massapequa so I have those experiences as well). If money was no object I'd live in Montauk easily. If we are talking a little more realistic, the town we are moving to (Shoreham) would be high, maybe Mattituck.

Love Shoreham and Miller Place.

Keep an eye on SWR schools but the area is beautiful.

If money were no option Shoreham Village waterfront would be in my top three.
Mattituck would be there too if I had a Helicopter.
