Does anyone do or know of people who commute by car from North Jersey to Long Island? My spouse works in New Hyde Park, LI. What would be the driving commute from Tenafly or Englewood to LI?

Does he work for North-Shore LIJ?

I know people who commuted from LI to north Jersey... I think that would be brutal to be honest with you. I hope it's a very good job he's commuting for.

I know of a couple of people I worked with who did that commute. One was an executive on the North Shore, others were sales people who worked in Hauppauge and Manhasset areas. The sales guys came out and usually stayed in a hotel (company expense) 3 or 4 nights, although one woman I know was doing that commute every day..in a Hummer none the less..and was making low 100's..I think her husband was rich and she wanted to get out of the house.

the executive guy did it almost every day, and worked from 8:30 to 7 or so at night. It's easily an hour and 45 minutes each way. I would say you should be making at least mid 100's to justify that commute. Personally, after going from an hour commute to 15 minutes, I would do everything in my power to avoid going back.

Keep in mind your commute will be a part time job and God forbid it rains or snows, you're looking at multi-hour each way. If the job is worth it. I'd consider relocating, otherwise you will be burned out w/in a year or two.
