Whats with all the damn cancer on LI?

Its no concidence that North Shore/LIJ is our largest employer.

While were all splitting hairs over who's school disrict is better ...people are dying all around us.

We need to deal with our toxic island while our real estate is depressed.

Cancer sucks and its more common that the Chicken Pox around here.
Particularly around Port Jeff, but whats going on by you?

Moderator cut: Please watch your language. Other posters have complained that they find it offensive. Thanks .

Seriously? Abstain from cow's milk and all meat unless you kill it yourself in the forest, see what happens.

Try not to drink the water. Everyone on LI puts some type of chemical on their lawn for that perfect lawn. The chemicals have to go somewhere. Its a sure bet your body does not like those chemicals!

Don't forget higher socioeconomic status. Delayed or no pregnancy raises risk of breast cancer.
Genetics too.

Airborne? How do you get cancer from something being airborne? I agree with rocafeller05, people have to stop using lawn sprays and chemicals!!

That too. It's more exacerbated in highly populous areas. Even in rural areas of the US, harvested drinking water is being tested and is found to contain traces of pharmaceutical poisons that people p*ss out - Prozac, birth control, etc. It's all ending up in the groundwater that we all share. Thanks.

Like I've said before I work for one of the highest rated cancer centers in the US. All we do is CA, thats it. I can't tell you how many people we get from the island.

What about the fact that most of LI was farmland, for a long time? What about that peach farm up near Port Jeff. that they sold and now they're a ton of townhouses there? How much crap do you think they dumped into soil over how many years? Now your kids are playing in that soil.

Also obesity, poor diet and a miriad of other factors contribute.

P.S. I already know I'm getting a tumor and when I do I'm naming it Crooks.
