Terrible grafitti and tagging. Lots of it appears to be gang related. Maybe an area I should avoid from now on.

Believe it or not thats Port Jefferson Village (or right on the line)

Combine that with the wandering homeless and paid parking in Downtown and sadly Port Jeff has really taken a turn for the worse.

Great town...they need to fire their Mayor and get back on track before they look like Huntington Station.

The area is immediately south of the train tracks along Rt.112, by the Laundromat.

Wow. It is a lot worse than when I lived in Setauket, though and used to go to the Brookhaven movie theatre up there.

My in-laws live in Port Jefferson Station--right on the border of Selden. It looks like a nice area. I don't know why people say it isn't that nice?

Sadly the nicer part of PJ Station is further south.

The border by the train/village is a warzone.

Keep in mind the worst of it by the train is in Port Jeff Village.

Looks like the "ghetto culture" of the City has finally made its way out to Long Island. There definitely has been a marked increase in graffiti in many parts of the Island.

Rule of thumb: if tyhe grafitti is at all readable, legible and with correct spelling then it was probably done by wannabe suburban White Teens.

If the grafitti makes no sense, most tags don't, then you may have some real gangstas in the 'hood about.

Yeah I didn't know that was Port Jeff Village, now I know, sounds like the Village Govt there is so bad its making Westbury look good. Its rare to see tagging that bad here in Nassau County, even in New Cassel I have yet to see anything that looks as bad as what I saw in PJ.
I guess you're right, it's becoming the next "Huntington".

Huntington Station, Port Jefferson Station, anyone else see a pattern?

Are towns with train stations more prone to this sort of decline?
