I wonder how much of today's political spectrum on LI is affected by age-related demographics (ratio of under 25s to 30-50s to seniors/Baby Boomers). Quite a lot, I expect.
My WW2-generation parents were staunch Republicans. Which naturally meant that when I was a teen in the Sixties I became a Democrat. Then when I went out to work and then became a homeowner at age 30 I had a brief fling with Republicanism again. In my late 30s I finally began to TRULY pay attention to politics instead of just giving it a passing glance on the news; that's when I became an independent.

Good point ...looks like the big blue wave has hit LI.
Let's not forget the LI politics involved in something so simple as getting FiOS service available in every town!! It's absurd how one town can have it and the next town over doesn't simply because of some under-the-table palm greasing and deal cutting!

Are you asking for a separate forum for LI politics?
We can stick this thread for the poll but this thread is not the place to discuss specifics.
Hmmm
Could you make this thread sticky so we can have an outlet for Long Island specific politics??
