In a nutshell....This is how NY works....

A, B and C live in NY
A robs B, B robs C and C robs A.
They are all happy thinking they are earning top $$$ and sending kids to top schools and living the best life possible.

D moves in...
A robs D, B robs D and C robs D....
Two years later....
D has learnt the ropes and gets into the robbing circle....

Now.... if you can't get into the circle.... you will keep complaining your whole life....

This is incredibly accurate, and ties in to what I said on the NYC thread about how every other person in the Metro area is running a scam..there is so little straight up honest business around here. Everyone is trying to low ball you or scam you, form the real estate agent to the car mechanic to the lawyer, to the contractor. It gets tiring.

I agree. It's a shame that the average NY'er has to be more cynical than the other NY'er that is trying to take him.

Being from out of state, something I found remarkeable was the number of places in NY that are cash only. I hadn't been to a legitimate cash only business in years.
