again, ive never seen the problem in the sunrise mall and I worked there as a security guard for a while. its mostly white kids and a small bunch of latinos.
South Shore is much worse than Sunrise. I've been in Sunrise Mall more lately and it appears to be fairly safe. The neighborhoods around Sunrise are fine parts of Massapequa, its east toward Amityville where the trouble is.
South Shore is smack dab in the middle of one of LI's worst gang and illegal alien infested areas, little Mexico (or little El Salvador, little Hondorus, etc, etc). North Bay Shore, Brentwood, and CI are all part of the same rathole. I wont even take the bus through there its so bad.
I will admit that the Sunrise Walmart is run down, but I hear they are remodeling it. It would really be a boost to the mall if the Macy's modernized, everything in there is still original, even the elevator.
Its one of the last Macy's on LI to not modernize (aside from Broadway Mall, which wasnt always a Macys).
Its a shame about South Shore because Westfield did a beautiful job renovating that place, only to get trashed by some of the roaches that invaded the area. Unfortunately some stores (Sears) want to roll out the red carpet for them.

Um have you been in this mall in the last - oh let's say - 25 YEARS?? LOL
I was there yesterday and it really isn't a bad mall. It actually was pretty busy (and not just teenagers) and they remodeled the Walmart pretty nice. Its a lot better than Broadway Mall for sure.
