Hi everyone! I'm about to buy a new gas stove and gas dryer from Best Buy and a washer from Lowes. They all have a one-year warranty ... do you think I should get an extended warranty for $99 each? Or should I just get a service contract with Sears, or someone else, to service those appliances should they break?

I mentioned Sears only because they were mentioned on Consumer Reports website.

Thanks in advance!

I would not! First off it is MY feeling that if a product has a flaw it will surface in the the first couple of days, and you could still return it to the store (30 days usually). Secondly the one service contract I did get said everything was covered when in reality only those items that rarely fail were covered. Most likely the only part you will ever need to change will be the washer motor coupling (rubber part less then $20) and if you can hold a screwdriver you can fix it!.......But in the end most will purchase those contracts anyway

Not a big fan either. I got a new gas stove and dryer from GE and had problems with both out of the box. I complained so much that they extended the warranties for another six months.
