My grandparents had an indoor fountain with a big statue in it in the foyer! (I'd love to see what the inside of that house looks like now ... hopefully minus that monstrosity.)
Neighbors down the block had that look! Never saw such ornate "golden" lamps and lighting fixtures in my life.
You wanna really laugh? My parent's had a big corner lamp of aconquistador who was holding the lamp. On the wall adjacent was a huge red velour picture with a tarry looking galleon, sails filled with wind. The frame looked like it was out of some Spanish castle.
And people wonder why I like very traditional decor....

Did they have an extra-wide fireplace with a big spit in it for roasting the meats for the feast in the castle?

Not fooling -- if you have 20's-30's stuff, contact an architectural salvage company. You'll make some money for yourself.
