Question on Bellport. (Please answer if you actually know). Do the people who live in Bellport send their kids to the South Country school district or do most of them opt for private schooling?

Bellport is one of the only towns on LI where you can go from multimillion dollar homes to crackhouses in five minutes. And if you go another five minutes, you're solidly in the middle class.

RoleModel, could you be confusing the Hamlet of North Bellport and the Village of Bellport, which, although they share the same "Bellport, 11713" ZIP Code postal zone, are two separate communities?
A friend of a friend sends her kids to a private school. But then, some wealthy people will send their kids to private school even if they're in a "good" district like Three Village or Smithtown.

A map of the Village of Bellport:
I was referring to Bellport colloquially. You don't need to take everything literally.
I would not move to Bellport. There are three areas. Bellport, North Bellport, and Bellport Village all with the same zip code. The wealthier (and this does NOT mean wealthy - just more than the others) live in the Village which has a very high gay population (so no kids). The elementary school is fine but not the others. Violence and racial tension. Many families send their children to private schools. This is a great place for gay men and sucks for the rest. I'm leaving as soon as the economy recovers whenever that is. Wish I had left 3 years ago. Taxes are $6K-8K for a 3 b/r house, plus another $600-900/year for village taxes. Only those who have lived here for many many many years can use the village boat slips (they are grandfathered in and unless you are rich - Isabella Rosalini got her boat in as soon as she bought it, plus she was dating the village attorney - you have a ten+ year wait to get a boat in. I hate this town. On the plus side, summer outdoor concerts are nice, cycling through the village is safe (except for the housewives driving SUV's and yakking on cellphones who occasionally come close to running you over). This is the worst place to live for a single straight woman. Single straight men will do fine because there are none here. Any apartments are not in the Village, so that means in lower class neighborhoods. Just north of the Village (north of Head of the Neck) are shootings and drugs on a regular basis. still want to come here?
