Thank goodness the weather is getting milder now, but it just irks me when busineses rely on Mother Nature to melt the snow and ice covering their sidewalks and parking lots. Yesterday, my daughter and I caught the N79 to Wal-Mart in Westbury and bad enough sloshing through the dirty snow to make it to the parking lot but the wait in front of Shiro Restaurant was rediculous! Standing mere inches away from cars on the street waiting for the bus or doing a balancing act standing on the snow packed curb is some choice. Up and down Old Country Road in that area (Carle Place one side, Westbury the other) was the same.

(sigh) just had to vent...

They did a horrible job with snow removal in this storm! I've seen places where there was mounds of snow and sidewalks that were covered in so much ice/snow that pedestrians had to walk on the side of the streets! Bus stops looked dangerous as well.

A total disgrace, if you ask me. Aren't businesses responsible for the snow/ice removal in front of their businesses and in their parking lots?!??!?!

Lol! That's pretty much my way of getting around; I'm a PubTranspo Princess

My gripe is more with the businesses. I mean, some places there weren't any effort to remove snow and ice. Like omigawd mentioned it is dangerous as well as disgraceful.

And considering this storm was hyped up for days prior, it's not like it was a surprise. There was time to prep. The snow removal was a joke. We live on a dead end street so it was pretty much ignored. The Baldwin train station parking lot wasn't sanded or plowed at all - it was truly treacherous. Glad the weather was warm enough late in the week and over the weekend to melt most of it.
