My 20-year-old stepson was employed by a large construction company in NH and was supposed to begin his plumbing apprenticeship in April - he was just laid off. Does anyone know of any trade schools in this area? His other company was going to reimburse him for tuition - we are prepared to pay for it, but he will need a job as well. I am hoping if we find a decent program they may have a career office where he can find apprentice-type work.

He has a car, so transportation is not an issue - we live in Northport.

Any ideas would be much appreciated - thanks.

I doubt they are taking new apprentice applications with this economy. But I guess you could try.

This school has a construction skills course that offers plumbing in a program that also includes carpentry and electrical:

APEX TECHNICAL SCHOOL

This school has been around a very long time and is reputable. It's only a few stops from Penn Station on the subway.

Nice for you to reach out, but I would bet he has found a job from 6 years ago.
