Day trip no more than 2.5 hrs. Not averse to staying over.
East end (north fork)winetasting. Take ferry from Orient point to foxwoods or mohegan sun. Freeport (casino-not as big obviously and mostl slots).Sporting events at nassau coliseum,MSG,westbury/north fork theatre(music,stand-up).Laser Tag(not sure how many places still have it- check Sayville).Day trip to Fire Island.

I can't remember the exact dates but the Strawberry Festival comes around in Mattituck I believe around this time.Rides,games,food,indian jewelry,etc...

The Poconos. A few hours away and plenty to do, not too expensive either depending on where you stay.
Or the Berkshires - again not too much of a ride, but kind of on the high side - very scenic, not terribly exciting, more romantic than anything.
