I was called a few weeks ago, called in for 4 days straight, after the 4th day I was excused for 6 years.
Are you sure you are excused for 6 years, my wife was on call in in 2008 for state superme court in riverhead. Today she got a jurror questioner and one of the questions are have you served in the last 6 years. Is the answer yes??
I served once. Answered my summons and was dismissed the first day. That was over 10 years ago and I never was called again. I think the screamers and ravers get continually called back until they are senior citizens.
Received notice for Grand Jury (appear in August)...did one day in April for same notice and was not chosen.Received Juror's Proof of Service Certificate (letter states retain for eight years) was told this morning that I must attend in August because I did not serve. Also told that the letter was meant for my employer only.Is this correct?I did not postpone nor did I refuse Duty I was not called to serve just like others that had attended.

Gosh, I had the best time at Jury Duty. I did not have to go all the way to work (teaching) and it was just so interesting. I loved everything from the voir dire to the summations. It was like being on "Law & Order".

The people on here are all full of it I went to suffolk county grand jury today and they are very nice and understanding they do not force anyone to stay they simply ask if you can do it or not if you can't you are dismissed end of story no making up lies or excuses seeing the judge or any difficult
I don't know anybody that ever answered any of the letters.
Ok maybe a couple, but for the most part those letters don't even get opened.
They go from the mailbox right to the garbage. Nobody has gone to jail because of it.
Not saying it's right to ignore your civic duty. I did it once like 15 years ago and it killed me financially. I lost a ton of money being out of work. The jury pay for whatever amount of days it was didn't even come close to what I made in one day's pay back then.

Besides, it's much easier just to blame everything on the lawyers, the judges and the "system."
