Maybe you're off duty and listening in on some buddies.

Maybe you're a recruit and want to listen to learn proper radio protocol.

Maybe you're a citizen and would like to know why the helicopter has been circling for the past 15 minutes without having to call the local precinct.

Maybe you're a citizen who's just a buff.

Maybe you're a journalist trying to find stories.

Plenty of good reasons to listen in.

One thing that's not likely is that you're going to do bad things and listen in on the internet to avoid the good guys. The bad guys who try that usually go for some heavy duty portable set ups and usually fail at it anyway.

That's enough from me, now, as my Nassau friends would say...I'm going on 7

Most cordless phones operate in the 900MHz range, you can pick them up with almost any scanner. I used to hear them on mine all the time!

curious. Your average run of the mill joe doesn't own a scanner but someone burglarizing a convenience store or a residence may find a scanner as a valuable tool. Don't take offense to it.
