Angry WTF is Right!!!

Not true, I moved to Wading River 4 years ago and my taxes have gone up $500 since then. We live in a very modest home (translation less then 1,100 sq.ft.) and pay over $8,000 in taxes. Huge mistake on our part to move here and yes we have stood up to the SWR school district to no success. No idea why the hell our taxes are so high and we have nothing to show for it. We pay out of pocket for ALL extracurricular activities including orchestra and community prorams. There are NO BEFORE or AFTER school programs for our children to participate in. The programs were eliminate last year "Due to budget cuts" There are no cafeterias in ANY of the elementary or middle schools. Where the hell is the money going????? We tried putting our home up for sale but due to the market we would unfortunately take a $75,000 loss on it. My recommendation to anyone considering moving to Shoreham or Wading River, DON'T DO IT!!!! Our biggest mistake ever and we will be paying for a long time!

Its not that far.
Its off the Wm Flyd so its pretty much Mid-Island.

Many work @ BNL and SUNY SB, some are independently wealthy.
(Professionals/Contractors etc.)

Sadly the Middle Class are lost in the shuffle there.

With the much larger than usual tax increase, the home prices may very well go down.

Indeed.

Theyve been trying to dodge this LILCO/LIPA Nuke bullet for a long long time.

The bills overdue.

Only in the $8,000 range? Your taxes have gone up $500 in 4 years? My last increase was far more than that for 1 year. There are people in Centereach paying more. There are many people throughout Brookhaven paying more.

The cuts stink, believe me I am not without sympathy, but people out in SWR became to comfortable sucking on LILCO/LIPA's teat for too long.

Now it's time to pay the piper.

Sad thing is the homeowners dont really get to decide what they pay.. and what really stinks is all the people who just moved to SWR and didnt get to live here in their glory days. I just moved here with all the money I had and now everything is going downhill. They dont even have kitchens or a place for the kids to eat together.

If they really wanted to make it even they could lower the rest of us 27 percent
I cant see that it would take even 8000 dollars a year for every house on long island to have decent roads and schools. where the hell is the money going? .... no....really....

in other states they have nice roads and nice schools and the houses arent even packed so closely together and they dont get 8000 dollars a year per house....
