is that what they do? tickets for 4mph over the limit?

LIRR conductors make out equally as well...years ago I know that their base salary went up to 75K after 5 years..I'm sure it's more now. Overtime is plentiful if you want it, and they basically open doors and take tickets. They get all kinds of differentials and holidays. Vacation time is way up there (not like cops), but it's still a ton. It's another one of those "whisper to your friends about it, get them in on the scam"!! type of jobs that is paid basically by a captive audience of commuters.

Folks.. please keep it about the original topic and not about other members. Report posts that do not follow the ToS rather than responding to them.

Per the Terms of Service

Be civil, no personal attacks, flaming, or insults. We may attack ideas (politely) but we do not attack the speaker of the idea. Be careful with your words, there is a point where being direct crosses a line into blunt, in-your-face hostility.
Please, report bad posts instead of engaging in flame wars on the boards. Insulting another member or a moderator will not be tolerated anywhere on this website. This includes Direct Messages and Reputation Comments.

If you disagree with something, say so, but explain WHY.

Stay on topic. Attempts to hi-jack threads by switching topics or going off topic will be deleted and infractions issued. This is not a chat room - when people hi-jack threads by posting messages that are of interest to only few people, the threads often stop being useful discussions of initial topics.

Hate speech, racism or bashing of ANY sort will NOT be tolerated
. Rude posts will be removed and infractions issued. Do not quote or talk to trolls or your posts will also be deleted. Use the report feature instead.

I'd almost prefer it if the cops and cop lovers made comments like, "we're overpaid and we're laughing all the way to the bank and an early retirement" instead of what we usually get.

A little honesty and self-awareness would be refreshing.

Some are honest. This one retired after 17 years on a 3/4 tax-free disability pension (admits he only planned on spending 20 and getting his taxpayer funded pension) and he posts pics of his big house in Virginia and writes about the racehorses he owns, etc.:

I respect Big Mike and that last poster. They are speaking the TRUTH. They are very open and honest about ripping YOU the taxpayer off and laughing all the way to the Bank.

Now, the question is...what are you going to do about it? Will you spend your time and resources planning your kids next $1,000 birthday bash, or will you get involved in your local communities and government and start speaking up??

Very simple..elect Suffolk politicians who aren't the PBA's....you know what. They are running ads bashing Levy on a regular basis. In that case, Levy has my vote. "Steve Levy thinks they get paid too much..we disagree.."

You're the PBA!! You wouldn't think they were getting paid enough if every man woman and child on Long Island paid 90% of their earnings to the police.
