yea theres always a few dollars of taxes on top..

I have sprint, a samsung instinct, soon to upgrade to the palm pre. i was going to switch to ATT a year ago for the iphone, but it came down to sprint being like $20 cheaper for the same plan. On ATT, the cheapest plan for an iphone (450 anytime, unlimited data, etc) was $70, but dont include messaging, so thats another $15 for 1500 texts, plus taxes.. so it should come to over $90 probably.. on Sprint i have the Everything plan, which is the same as the ATT plan pretty much, but also includes texting, for $70. Plus i get a corporate discount (12%) for sprint, so my bill comes to like $68 total.

until ATT drops their rates, i cant justify paying the extra $20 a month for a slower data network and crappier voice network, just to have the iphone

and with sprint theres only a couple dollars of fees on top, probably $5 at the most. i used to have ATT years ago and it was like an extra $15 if i recall, but i think i remember of there being a law made to stop those ridiculous random fees

If you mean their fees for breathing, changing socks and all that, mine is around $20. I notice my bill goes up every now and then and when I dig down to find out who the culprit is, its usually something like the 911 fee or the county tax, state tax, or whatever.

The problem is the local taxes that get tacked on depend on where you make most of your calls. Depending on where that is, your bill could vary quite a bit.

I pay $144 for two iPhones in a family plan. That includes the 550 mins a month shared plan, two iphone unlimited data plans, one family unlimited text plan, and my corporate discount.

If it were just for one line, you could get rid of $40 for the add-a-line and iPhone data, another $10 to drop the family unlimited text plan and go with a single unlimited plan, and then whatever fraction is associated with taxes.

On the $144, about $15 is government fees and taxes, but not all of those fees are a direct percentage of the total, but figure drop another $5 of taxes if I lost one of my lines.

I guess it would be around $95 a month out the door if I only had the one line. My corporate discount is 24% on service for the primary line.

I have an iPhone and pay $63 a month. This is for 450 mins (with rollover), 500 text and unlimted Data. This is with my company discount.

By the way, to put some more perspective on this, I also have a Sprint SERO plan for my son's cell. It's $30 base price, and after taxes and fees comes out to $35. It's a pretty sweet deal, 500 minutes, unlimited text/data, but they no longer offer SERO these days and I can't use it with some of the newer data-intensive phones like the Palm Pre. I have it hooked up to a Palm Centro which works well enough for now.

Question, is there any cell service on Long Island that doesn't have all these fees tacked onto your bill?

All of the cell providers are required to charge these taxes and fees. I'm not aware of any provider that bundles everything together in a clean "lump sum".

We have the same plan only I have the blackberry storm. After having the phone for 5 months, I've decided that I no longer want the $30 data plan. Unfortunately its REQUIRED by Verizon on all new smartphones. I like the phones many other features and hate to get rid of it. Makes me furious that I have to keep paying an extra $30 for the features I don't want.
