I'm reading lots of things about VS Mall, not just on this forum but what happened over the holidays that makes me not want to hang out there on the weekends with my little children but Roosevelt is too far away, any other malls close to Rockville Centre?

I was interested in moving to Valley Stream, then I read about the mall and saw the pictures and it made me sort of sad that it's not the charming community I thought it was.

Thank you for your responses.

You should avoid Valley Stream. Port Washington is a nice place but kinda isolated, not close to many malls. In Nassau Roosevelt Field is pretty much the only decent mall. Sunrise aint bad, but I think Suffolk has better shopping malls. Walt Whitman (for more upscale stuff), Smith Haven (has pretty much everything) are the best. Of course there's Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, the one in Deer Park sucks though (avoid).
If you lived in Westbury you'd be close to Roosevelt Field, and Walt Whitman is only a 15-20 min parkway ride away (with no traffic).
You also have Broadway Mall, though I have to say GA has more than that place.

From Port, no nearby mall, but there are a lot of stores (mid range to very very upscale) along Northern Boulevard, including mall staples like Macy's and Lord & Taylor. The Americana in Manhasset is generally super-ritzy, but there are a few regular stores there (I know there's a Gap) and next door is Crate & Barrel and Sephora.

Roosevelt Field Mall is in East Garden City ("Garden City, NY 11530" mailing address) and the Sunrise Mall is in East Massapequa ("Massapequa, NY 11758" mailing address).

Westbury isn't so nice anymore either though...it's almost comparable to Valley Stream. It's sad...a lot of towns that were once nice on LI are turning over.

The Source is near Roosevelt Field, as well. It's a smaller mall with shops like Gap Outlet and Old Navy plus restraurants like PF Chang's.

You can also try the Sands Shopping Center in Oceanside. It isn't a mall, but its very close to Rockville Center. I've heard it has tons of stores.
