The Caldarolas of St James, NY are so fed up with the noise, traffic and trash generated by the annual, 4 day Sts Philip and James RC Church fair that they are taking the Diocese of RVC & the Sts. Philip and James School to court. Their home abuts church property.

According to the video report, the church has tried to accommodate the Caldarolas by relocating the carnival on the grounds in an effort to be a good neighbor.

If these folks are bent about a 4 day carnival, imagine what they would be like living under a flight pattern!

This is ridiculous. I used to live in Glen Cove and each year, just ONCE a year, there would be a St Rocco's Feast. Most of us looked forward to it. And, these fairs usually end somewhere around 11 PM or midnight, 1 AM might be the very latest. You would think people would be more tolerant for 4 days out of the year, once a year. Especially since the church moved the fair grounds too accommodate them.

We seem to have become a society that has little tolerance for others besides ourselves. Whatever happened to interacting and being good neighbors? It's not like its a noisy mower or a barking dog for each day of the week throughout the year. I value my peace and quiet just as much as anyone else but this is a fair for goodness sakes. Instead of complaining go out and join in the festivities.

It's only 4 days! Smithtown is full of yokels anyway, thats why their libraries are closed so often. And why St. James has no bus service (you have to walk from Rt.25 or take the LIRR).

Its gets down to the fact that people just want what they want and dont care about anyone else anymore. Its only 4 days ; live with it.

We all need to enjoy life more often and stop complaining and moaning and trying to change everything for our own selfish reasons. When there are more people in the world, we just cannot keep thinking about ourselves.

Growing up in Queens, neighbors were more friendly, and not in your buisiness all the time. I find people on LI have more problems with their neighbors. If they cant deal with a 4 day fair, which is great for the kids, and raises money for church, maybe they should move to somewhere they dont have neighbors for miles. People have nothing better to do than make other people miserable.

all because of a 4 day fair? Please...get out and enjoy the fair and stop complaining! I would be grateful for something cool like that happening

It makes me wonder if the people who are complaining really have issues with the community who organize the fair rather then the noise.

I love the many fairs we have in Babylon Village. They are one of the nicest things about living here.
