We really wanted to find something in Sayville - my wife loved the area. We thought your money didn't go as far there and taxes were higher than other similar areas. A month or so ago - we went to two open houses - on the ride home my wife said - I'm over Sayville.

East Islip as a whole is probably nicer in terms of neighborhoods.

Islip is the one with the "downtown", with Tellers steak house & Town Hall. I live in Islip & love it. I believe East Islips schools are slightly better when they are ranked. But both are fine. I chose Islip over East Islip based on the downtown area and the Islip town beach/playground. And to top it off your 2-5 mins from the downtowns of Bay Shore, Sayville, Babylon & the South Shore mall.

Are the taxes any easier in Islip since it has a Downtown?

EI is awful tax wise.
