uncle giuseppe's is amazing... and they are not expensive at all considering what you get. ive never had anything from the store that wasn't absolutely delicious and fresh, its unreal. i dont know about you, but i'd rather pay for quality than buy the cheapest steak in the world because its the lowest price...

I have to say, I have had terrible luck at Uncle Giuseppes - went there 2 weeks ago and that will be my last visit. I got a pound of egg salad at the deli and it was full of shell fragments! Also, I ordered baccala for New Years and it was bad - smelled vile (and we know what it should smell like). The store is too crowded and their meat is too expensive. It boggles my mind why it was voted "best supermarket of LI" - totally overrated.

I really hope Whole Foods is better.

And I think they are still hiring - just a FYI for anyone who is looking for a side income...

Uncle Giuseppes is great for hard to find, imported, prepackaged items. I think the "busy" look is carefully set up, to give an impression of a crowded market. I do not necessarily trust the meat section, always wondering where the store labeled meat came from. I also tend to stay away from any "freshly" prepared egg products, that's just asking for trouble .

I do hope that our new local Whole Foods market will work with the local LI farmers this season, they ought to right?

What would you classify it as? A Stop and Shop? A Trader Joe's?

Wild by Nature and somewhat Fairway are better comparisons.
