What would you think is more desirable when selling a house, wall-to-wall carpeting or hard wood floors?

IMO, hard wood floors. Carpet often don't look so great after a few years...while hard wood floors usually hide their imperfections a lot better.

Also, hard wood floors obviously offer greater flexibility.

I agree. Ever pull up carpet from a wood floor that's been sitting there for many years?

Best thing is hardwood floors, with a throw rug in the front and rear door entrances for shoe wiping and looks.

Hard wood floors are the popular item now. Easier to maintain than carpeting as well.

Hardwood floors in the main areas like Living Room and Dining Room and Den. I'd use carpet in bedrooms on the top floors to reduce noise and make it more comfy. Also, if you have a dry basement, I'd use carpet in the basement because most people like the warmer feeling down there.

O.K., thanks. I will probably pull the carpet up in all areas except the bedrooms. I suppose I should take it off the stairs and landing as well, correct?
