It is going to be 15 years of marriage in the middle of November. Two young children make it impossible to go away for a week on some Caribbean island.. So I am thinking of a kick-butt bed and breakfast for Friday to Sunday in November. I know it will be cold, but something with a nice view, cozy, clean, fireplace, jacuzzi.... Anywhere on Long Island, Hudson Valley.. really anywhere within a few hour drive.. BUT HAS TO BE REAL CLEAN ! ! No expense spared!

ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ! !

We stayed at Hawkins in April - recommended. They had a great deal where you got dinner(we ate down in the wine cellar - very romantic) and b'fast included - dinner is normally very pricey. The room we stayed in had a gas fireplace.

Default Ellis House in Southold

we stayed at Ellis House in Southold and it was really nice. the rooms were clean and the house was an old style victorian. it was right on main rd. and there were nearby wineries, beaches & farms to visit. the hosts were really nice too. breakfast was delicious.

How about the Montauk Yacht Club? Or the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel in CT? Or The Inn at Montchanin Village, DE? Or The Castle on the Hudson in Tarrytown, NY? The one in Delaware is probably the furthest away. But check out the websites and maybe you'll find something that fits the bill.

Or you could really do it up big and fly to Nantucket and stay at The Wauwinet. Very exclusive. Very definitely a wow.

I can't top Andrea's flying in suggestion, but I've stayed at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, ME and it was phenomenal.
Freeport, Maine Harraseeket Inn The Perfect Gift Maine, perfect gift, harraseeket inn, freeport, reservations, dining,

If you can plan your trip a little before your actual anniversary, say late October, you'll be able to take in some leaf peeping in southern New England.

On that note, there's the Inn Victoria in Chester, VT www.innvictoria.com which is in the heart of an adorable village green. Check out the Princess Victoria room -- it was very recently redone. Gas fireplace, whirlpool spa tub for two....very romantic. It's a great spot to stay for leaf peeping. There's a scenic train ride, Okemo mountain is not far, Manchester for shopping is down the road.

If you want high falutin' there's the Equinox in Manchester. You might consider the Jeremiah French suite in the Equinox' 1811 house.

If you don't mind taking the ferry out of Port Jeff, Chester is about 3 hours. If you drive up from north western Suffolk, you're looking at about 4 hours to Manchester, no traffic.

They're a trophy store. You deserve one for being married 15 years. I once dated a girl for 3 weeks and wanted to eat the business end of a shotgun by the end of the 3rd week.

Thanks everyone for the links... and the engraver link..

Also, sorry to hear about the horrid three week relationship in the above post.. but of course, when I said I want to blow her away, I did not mean what you said

I am still open to hear more recommendations for more places.. Still have some time.

Sal
