Just got my solar starter kit. instead of buying batteries im thinking about a product I found on Amazon
Power Jack 1200 Watt Grid Tie Power
you hook up your panels to it and plug it into the grid. Anyone know anything about this. I figure every paycheck i'll buy a solar panel and after a year ill be at 1200watts then i'll start it again with the second grid tie device.
I went with solar city two years ago... but I wouldn't recommend anyone directly on this forum!
In hindsight, I would have bought the panels instead of leasing them if I could do it all again. We are saving money without a doubt. We save a little over $1000 a year but we would have saved a lot more if we had spend a little more up front.
If you don't have money to put down the leasing is a great option though... that is what I did.
how many KW do you use. how big is your house. im thinking of building it up as I go.
im stuck between the building up OR buying a 300 watt panel per room @ 400$ and spending 800 for 2 400ah battery to run at the night. then in the morning they recharge.
I had looked into the batteries but you really don't want them in your house for safety reasons. Also, the batteries don't last forever especially when using them day in and day out.
FOr those of you how 've installed recently, regarding rebates and incentives, here's a question:
In order to be eligible for Fed and state incentive, does the install need to be done by a certified installer? Or can it be a DIY system, to be signed off by an installer so that it passes muster?

Another thought, do you know if a certified installer would even sign off on a DIY?
