Is more than $2000 title search fee for a $500,000 house in Nassau county reasonable? Thanks for your reply.

Are you talking about a title search or a title insurance policy? If it's for a policy, the price is about right.

Tom is right... Title search is not that expensive.... insurance policy is.... varies a little here and there depending on the company used and bulk rates.... but 2K+ is normal.

Which is a total rip-off.
As is the "closer appearance" fee.

I totally agree with ya....
So many things I have seen during the purchase of the home I feel are either unnecessary or overpriced that.... I just went "whatever" !! (so many times !!)
But then I see that even the medical services are so overpriced in this country, its ridiculous.

They got you by the ding dong. Especially uneducated first time buyers.
You expect to lay out a certain amount of money at the closing and then you get hit with all these other misc fee's and charges and surprises.
What are ya gonna do? pull the plug? you can't, and they know it.
Educated and more experienced buyers just know it's all part of the game, and they suck it up and deal with it, which isn't necessarily the right thing to do because it just allows these financial leeches to keep charging these extra fees, and create new ones. Whatever. It is what it is.
