Anybody have any ideas for a romantic anniversary dinner &/or show on Long Island?? My parents offered to babysit, so I've been trying to come up with something special, but I'm not having much luck. We'd prefer to stay in Nassau, but would be willing to travel to Western Suffolk for something worthwhile. Any ideas??
Mill Pond Inn in Centerport or Chateau La Mer in lindenhurst. For a show there is the John Engemann theatre in Northport. They put on very good shows.
Can't say anything about the Mill Pond Inn, but I can recommend the John Engeman theatre. I wanted to treat my wife to a show there for our anniversary and with asking about that place here, it came highly recommended. I can tell you we were not disappointed. The actors and actresses were very good and seating was very good too. I'm normally not a show type of person but I felt that I had gotten most for my money and didn't feel like I wasted any time or money on it. Plus the wife was happy.
I will recommend the Melting Pot restaurant on Rt.110 (Melville, NY). Its a nice, cozy and private giving you time to gaze into each other and have some good conversation.
The Mill Pond Inn is now the Mill Pond House - new ownership, but still excellent food and very nice setting, right on Mill Pond, often with swans swimming there, etc.
Blackstone has excellent (and expensive) food - wouldn't call it romantic though, but definitely a treat. Of course that's just my opinion.
I won my wife's heart by getting a case of Bud Light, a sack of white castle cheeseburgers, a pint of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream and taking her to the Commack Motor Lodge for a night of tender lovemaking.
Thank you, everyone, for all the great suggestions. I will definitely look into the John Engemann theatre in Northport and treat you all to a show there.
At the John Engemann theatre they will be showing "Miracle on 34th street" soon
