I live in East Northport and have been a manicurist here for over 20 years. In the past year I have heard NOTHING but praise for Gold's Gym. I understand they have recently undergone an intense renovation and the place is GORGEOUS! One client after another kept commenting on how the atmosphere was so inviting which really makes you want to go. I personally have not been inside, but take it from me I would have heard "the bad" already if there was any. Good Luck!
A lot of people like Golds. It is a nice gym with a very convenient location. There is, however, a new gym opening on Jericho Turnpike that I hear many people are leaving Golds for.
I wanted to join... but I checked their class schedule and they offer zero step aerobics, which is kind of my class of choice. In fact, I can't find ANY gyms around here that offer step, aside from the Huntington YMCA. Am I missing something or is step just out of favor these days?

Step is indeed out of favor. It is considered very 1980's, and injuries became quite common because the instructors started going too fast and too many risers were being added on. Nonetheless, if done correctly, it is a great form of exercise, there are still a good number of step fans out there. If you clamor for a step class at a smaller local gym (i.e. a non-chain establishment) you may prevail.
I'm surprised Spinning is so popular. Gold's in E Npt seems to have tons of Spinning... gosh, that was hot more than 10 years ago when I lived in Chicago. No complaints--I love Spinning, but I'm not finding much more than that, Pilates, and "Zumba" around the neighborhood and I wish there was more variety. Zumba Blech. Ever see one of those classes? I just can't bring myself to do it... Does that make me sound old and curmudgeonly? LOL
Does anyone go to the Gold's Gym in East Northport? Do you like it? Is it too busy to get on machines? How is the equipment? What's the monthly fee?
Anyone know what it costs?
